Noel Rokswel is a respected bay area dancer and singer. During a dance competition, Noel was told that he “rocks (the beat) so well” which later translated to Rokswel. He is known for many but focuses on his musicality and fundamental techniques. Noel has been dancing professionally and competing around the country for the last decade. He has won several competitions and has been an influence to the dancing community since 2002. Dancing was introduced into Rokswel’s life through the teachings of Danny “Bug ID Bandit” and Noel was later mentored by Mighty 4 and developed with the organization. After spending several years dancing and managing his own crew (Freshest Techs Crew), his talents excelled and he was invited to be a part of the Rock Force Crew (Winners of the International Battle of the Year Break Global Dance Competition 1998). When the group disbanded in 2009, Noel continued to “rock so well” solo. Currently, he is an active member in the Master City Breakers (’81).
Rokswel was born in San Francisco, California and is the youngest of two children. At an early age, Rokswel began his singing career in the elementary school choir. Little did he know that singing at Dr. George Washington Carver elementary would spark this passion later in life. During his middle school years Rokswel also decided he would pursue a successful career in his first passion B-boying (breakdancing). It was during that time Rokswel started to build a reputation for being musically gifted and began “Rocking-so-well” at dance competitions globally.
From free styling on the dance floor to re-discovering his open mic circuit where he performed an acapella song randomly in the streets of downtown San Francisco, Rokswel has since been working on developing himself as a professional recording artist. His musical influences represent the legacy and traditions of past soul artists. He cites as his inspiration such icons as John Legend, Musiq Soulchild, Maxwell, Bobby Caldwell, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles.
Currently, Rokswel not only has been seeing a voice coach regularly, he has been preparing to release an demo album.
